Can teeth whitening burn your gums?
There are some cases where the chemicals in teeth whitening products can actually cause a chemical burn on your gums. This is especially true if you are someone that has sensitive gums. This can be very similar to that of a sunburn. The gums can become a little sore when this happens as well as turning the affected area white. Eventually it does flake off. This primarily occurs when using a product that contains hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide. This is often not very serious but if you notice bleeding, you should contact your dentist because this could be a sign of a serious condition
